STEM and innovation at Gilbert Elementary

At Gilbert Elementary School, we focus on educating the whole child, academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally. Our curriculum emphasizes building a strong foundation for learning, inspired by the principles of constructing a schoolhouse foundation. Every lesson and activity is carefully designed to support students in developing the skills and mindset they need to succeed.

The Five Steps to Building a Schoolhouse Foundation

  1. Clear The Ground: Determine soil conditions and ensure a clean, stable base for learning.
  2. Prepare The Area: Dig and shape the space carefully, creating room for growth and development. The depth and preparation set the stage for all future learning.
  3. Build A Frame: Establish the framework - a structured outline of the curriculum that guides students step by step.
  4. Mix & Pour The Concrete: Combine knowledge, skills, and experiences into lessons that form a strong educational foundation.
  5. Finishing Touches: Refine, support, and enhance learning through projects, enrichment, and real-world application.

Our Approach

Each step of our “schoolhouse foundation” approach mirrors our commitment to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally. By laying a strong foundation early, we prepare students for success in later grades and life-long learning.
