Transportation Changes

Please notify the teacher/office in writing if your child has a transportation change. It is helpful to include the address to which the student is going in the note. In case of emergency or last minute change, you must call the office no later than 1:15 p.m. on the day the change is to take place.

Bus Information

The Transportation Department of the Walker County School District is charged with transporting over 6,000 students, safely and efficiently, every day. These buses cover over 87 routes daily, driving over 1.2 million miles each year.

Because the school bus is an extension of the classroom, we are an integral part of the education of all students within our school district. Safety is highly priority and a group effort. Students, parents, teachers, school administrators and drivers are all assigned responsibility. We value each and every student and will emphasize that by treating each student with dignity and respect. We are committed to providing the safest, consistent, reliable transportation possible and will strive to continually upgrade our service to students and parents as it becomes possible.

Each day, we experience extremely high call volume between the hours of 6:30 am – 8:15 am and between 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. During these hours, it is extremely difficult to get through to the Transportation Department. If you can’t get through, please keep trying.  For late bus information, please call 706-375-2050.
